Samsung Galaxy S7 spotted with Android 7.0 Nougat

The Samsung Galaxy S7, which was launched in India along with Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge earlier this year, has now been spotted on GFXBench benchmarking website with the Android Nougat operating system. This means that Samsung is perhaps testing the latest software and may release the same for the S7 soon.

There are also reports that Samsung is testing the Nougat firmware for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in Poland for about two weeks now. So the GFX listing might be an indication of Galaxy S7 being upgraded to Nougat pretty soon.

The specs in the GFX listing are the same which were revealed at the launch except, now it shows Android 7.0 Nougat in the Operating System. The device was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

As per the listing on GFXBench, Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch display with 2560x1440 pixels resolution and 5 finger gesture support. It is powered by Snapdragon 820 2.6 GHz octa-core processor and 4GB RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S7 offers 32GB of internal storage out of which 25GB will be reserved for the users. Besides, it has Mali -T880 GPU and Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

Besides, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 12-megapixel autofocus camera and an LED flash in its rear panel while an 5-megapixel camera is in its front. The GFX listing shows that the device has connectivity features like Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and WiFi. As per the listing, the device has accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor and proximity sensor as well.

Just to recall, Samsung had launched the Galaxy S7 (32GB) and Galaxy S7 Edge (32GB) in India earlier this year for Rs 48,900 and Rs 56,900 respectively. The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1 inch display while the S7 Edge has a 5.5 inch screen - both offer the same Quad HD resolution. As the name suggests, the S7 Edge has edge display, as is seen in S6 Edge while the S7 has the traditional look. These phones are also water and resistant and thus have been IP68 certified.

The phones have 12 megapixel camera with F1.7 aperture (the lowest for a smartphone till date) and hence should offer brighter images. Besides, the rear cameras of S7 and S7 Edge are armed with phase detection auto focus, motion panorama, motion photo, and hyper lapse features. They have 5 megapixel front camera that comes with wide selfie mode.

Besides, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have 4 GB RAM, 200 GB micro SD card slot, hybrid dual SIM (the SIM2 slot can be used for micro SD card or the SIM2), and Samsung Exynos chipset. The S7 has a 3000 mAh battery while S7 has a 3600 mAh battery. Both the phones come with wireless charging and Quick charging facilities.
