OnePlus still making OnePlus 3, but soon it might come with an LCD panel

OnePlus today rubbished reports that it has discontinued its latest flagship, the OnePlus 3. The rumour was first popped up in Gizmo China which reported that OnePlus is facing supply shortage for the AMOLED panels so it is working on a new variant which will come with an LCD panel. Also, later reports claimed that the refreshed variant might as well come with the latest Snapdragon 821 SoC which would make OnePlus 3 compatible with Daydream VR. Also, this would make it a good competitor against devices such as Pixel and Pixel XL.

Not only this, reports also suggested that OnePlus has already stopped the production of the current OnePlus 3. However, earlier today a OnePlus spokesperson told Android Authority that the company is still producing and selling OnePlus 3.

However, OnePlus's CEO Carl Pei has admitted that the company is facing shortage of AMOLED displays due to high demand of the same in 2016 and this well might lead to a new variant of OnePlus 3 soon. Yet, a complete flagship replacement doesn't make sense here.

OnePlus 3 comes with a 5.5 inch full HD Optic AMOLED display and 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset that has Adreno 530 GPU and 6GB RAM. In India, the device comes with 64GB internal storage which is not expandable. It is a Dual SIM device and also sports a fingerprint scanner at the Home button. A 3000 mAh battery powers this device. One distinct feature of the OnePlus 3 is its Dash Charging which is the best of its kind. The device is made up of aluminium and comes with uni-body design.
